NEW YEAR'S DAY - Wednesday 1st January 2014

We started the day by awaking in Pimlico London.  As the song says, "All is quiet on New Year's Day" as it was very quiet indeed.  After a busy New Year's Eve with the streets of London filled with thousands most were tucked up recovering from a hard night of partying.  We on the other hand were bright eyed and bushy tailed and we made our way to the Pimlico tube station on our way to Waterloo station to see what all the fuss is about on a giant Ferris wheel.

Grey old day and raining.  How unusual.  This was going to be fun but there were crowd's, but our pre-planning enabled us to accerlate through the queue's to our pod.  "Sorry, not the George Clooney type pod, Sarah".

The London Eye on the South Bank of the River Thames.  The entire structure is 135 metres tall and the wheel has a diameter of 120 metres.  Currently Europe's tallest Ferris wheel and the most popular paid tourist attraction in the UK with over 3.5 million visitors annually.   it is currently

Someone said to Sarah that she would have to hang onto the side of the pod as there wasn't enough room.  Her reaction is captured here with the giggling onlookers enjoying this little joke.

Smiling, in preparation for lift off.  Sarah obviously in the pod taking the photograph.

Little H enjoying the ride.  The palace of Westminster and Big Ben in the background.

Some artistic black and white to match the colour off the muddy Thames.

Another artistic glimpse utilising the enhanced features of the Samsung phone

More rain on the pod which didn't enhance the photographic abilities

Nearly finished.  It took about 30 minutes for the Eye to rotate before we alighted whilst the pod slowly moved

Back to Waterloo.  Ummmm, there's another song in there
